This degree prepares the nurse to become a practitioner in the field of Psychiatry. The demand for this particular field is extraordinarily high.

The program requires 43 credits within which there are 500 direct clinical hours and 100 hours of faculty supervision on campus for the psychotherapy role (PMH-NP).
The Certificate program is designed for those who are already licensed NPs in another specialty.
There are 19 course credits within which 500 hours of clinical work and 100 hours of therapy are required.
Apply to the Seminary, and then directly to the Adelphi University College of Nursing and Public Health.
- 3.0 minimum GPA
- Current RN license
- 2 years clinical experience
- PNP as first NP degree
- For those who already have an NP, the certificate for PNP is an option.

Psychiatric-Nurse Practitioner (MS, PMH-NP)
Through this part-time MS program, students meet the required competencies for therapy and prescribing in order to apply for advanced practice licensing and national certification. Students have opportunities to work with advanced practice psychiatric nurses and other mental health issues for child, adolescent and adult/gero clients.
